EPFO is an organisation for social security, Insurance scheme and Pension scheme. Employee provident Fund has been tasked to assist the CENTRAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES. Its a statutory body formed by the Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.

Central board of Trustees is Apex decision making body of Employee Fund.This service is provided by government For the employees covered under Employee provident fund to enable PF number Portability. Epf universal account Number launched by Prime minister of india on 1st october 2014.
On march 1952, the EPFO and miscellaneous Provision act 1952 came into effect. Central Board of Trustees is administrative authority of EPFO. Union Labour Minister is the Chairperson of THe Board.The central provident fund commissioner’s ( The Chief executive of the EPFO) reporting is to union labour Minister through the secretory of Labour and employment ministry. new Delhi is headquarter of EPFO organisation.
Three schemes are active presently with act 1952 of EPFO as below
- Employees’s Provident Fund Scheme 1952.
- Employees’ deposit linked insurance scheme.
- Employee’s Pension scheme 1995

In case of any discrepancy or case of Transfer / Withdrawal, Employee may visit official website of EPFO To know EPF balance. and get proper information. To withdrawal or Transfer EPF amount, Employee required to get approved KYC by digital signature from Employer. In case, Employer refuse to attest the KYC (Know your customer) or creates any issue. Employee may submit a request to Ministry of Labour and employment to know the actual reason or way to transfer / withdrawal EPF. for this purpose employee may Raise the RTI (Right To Information)
All employee should activate their UAN to get proper information relates to EPF. To withdrawal the EPF, employee must be unemployed till two months. Employee may transfer EPF online by portal service epfindia.gov.in in case of Change in employment. In any case, Employee have only one Universal account Number.
