Delhi metro is being administrated by central and state government for serving metro system. Faridabad, Gurugram(gurgaon) and gaziabad are satellite cities in national capital region (NCR) Delhi in India. DMRC is a state owned company having equal participation by the government of india and Government of Delhi. DMRC is responsible for Design, Built and operate in delhi metro. In india, Kolkata Metro is oldest one and 2nd oldest is delhi metro. DMRC having 12th Longest metro system as length and having 16th in largest in the ridership. It have seven color coded regular lines of Network with more than 252 kilometers with above 185 stations. Delhi Metro has used the system design of Underground, Elevated and at grade Metro stations with broad gauge and slandered gauge track line. The AC power of 25KV through overhead catenary for trains having usually of four, six, eight coach length operating over 3000 trips on daily as staring 5:00am to 11:30Pm . In 2011, DMRC has been certified by the United Nations as first metro rail system in world level for getting “Carbon Credits for reducing green house gas emissions” and reducing the levels of pollution in city. DMRC is serving for daily ridership of 2.76 million passengers and more than 100crore riders during the year.
In 1984, Planning for the metro started by the Delhi Development Authority and the Urban Arts Commission prepared proposal for develop the multi-modal transport system in city. In may 1995 , DMRC incorporated and started construction in 1998. In 2002, The first section on the Red Line was opened . For development of Metro network was divided into phases as Phase I having 3 lines completed till 2006, Phase II completed in 2011 and Phase III is scheduled for completion by 2018 which was originally planned for the year 2016 is yet in progress
In 2013, Rapid Metro Gurgaon opened and linked to Delhi Metro with Yellow Line (having different ownership from the Delhi Metro). Tokens of Delhi Metro can be used on rapid Metro network also. In phase -1, Total 65 kilometres long network having 58 stations and the following 3 routes (initial parts of Red, Yellow and Blue lines) were built within the limits of Delhi state, stations progressively started to open from 25 December 2002 to 11 November 2006.
