RTI – Right to information (suchna Ka adhikar)
On 15th june 2005, Right to information act has been proposed by legislation of india . On 12th October 2005, Right to information act came to effect. crores of indian citizen has been implemented ever to get information. RTI is made the most powerful law of country by making all the constitutional authorities taken under this act.
RTI act 2005 mandates for government of india to timely response to citizen request. To provide a RTI portal gateway to the citizen for quick search of information on the details of first appellate authorities, department of personnel and training, ministry of personnel, public grievances and pension has taken the initiative. Beside access to RTI, The various public authorities under the government of india as well as state government are publishing on the web.
Purpose / use of RTI – Public can ask to the government, how much money spent on renovation of minister’s bungalows, telephone bill,or fule expenditure, amount spent on MLAs/MPs foreign trips. It may asked to representative/ government that how much of allocated money is being utilized for improvement of their constituency. It may asked to any member, sarpanch, minister or officer for even a breakup of amount spent for or project wise. This Right to information is available for public because the spent money is taxpayers’s money. Many of the departments and ministries makes online reply on web portal which may be seen on their respective websites.
The basic purpose/objective of RTI act (right to information act) is to empower the citizens, make transparency and accountability in working style of Government of india. RTI act 2005 is best effort for making transparency / informed about the activities of the government to control the corruption.
rtionline.gov.in portal is avilable for file RTI applications/ first appeals online along with payment gateway through internet banking and its associate banks, debit/credit cards of master/Visa and rupay cards. RTI applications / first appeals can be filed by indian citizen for all ministers/Departments and few other public authorities of central government through this portal.
Citizen relating to Non BPL category has to select the option NO in “ Is the
Applicant Below Poverty Line ?” field and required to make a payment of RS 10 as
instructed in the RTI Rules, 2012.
